The actors join previously announced cast members such as Julia Roberts (Dr. Emma Brookner), Mark Ruffalo (Ned Weeks), Matt Bomer (Felix Turner) and Jim Parsons (Tommy Boatwright). The Normal Heart is expected to premiere next year.

The process is as follows: Step one: The writers create a character. Step two: The writers realize that a former-FNL actor might be a perfect fit. Step three: Jason Katims picks up the phone and “begs” the actor to come to Parenthood. Hey, it worked with Michael B. Jordan, Minka Kelly and Matt Lauria. Where you at, Taylor Kitsch?!

The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons and Friday Night Lights alum Taylor Kitsch have joined Julia Roberts, Mark Ruffalo and Matt Bomer in the television movie, EW has confirmed. Parsons will portray gay activist Tommy Boatwright, reprising his role from the 2011 Broadway revival; Kitsch will play Bruce Niles, a closeted investment banker who becomes a prominent AIDS activist, according to Deadline, who originally reported the news.

The television movie, based on Larry Kramer’s Tony-winning play that Kramer himself will adapt for the small screen, follows the onset of the AIDS crisis in New York City in the early 1980s. Roberts will play “Dr. Emma Brookner, the doctor who treats several of the earliest victims, while Ruffalo will portray Ned Weeks, a man who witnesses first-hand the mysterious disease that claims the lives of many. Matt Bomer (White Collar) will play a reporter who becomes Ned’s lover.”

Kramer’s play debuted at New York’s Public Theatre in 1985. The 2011 Broadway revival earned Tonys for Best Revival, Best Featured Actor and Best Featured Actress. The Normal Heart will begin production later this year and hit HBO sometime in 2014. (Source)

Based on a screenplay by Pandorum writer Travis Milloy, Exit 147 follows a man driving across the desert at night who is arrested by a small town sheriff and held captive as part of his own sadistic game. The film is to be directed by Julian Jarrold.

Piggy-backing off of the critical acclaim of the 2004 film, Friday Night Lights somehow spun off into an even better TV drama, focusing on a Texas high school football team and its trials and tribulations.

The new coach, Eric Taylor (Kyle Chandler), and his wife, Tami (Connie Britton), lead the football-driven family and serve as an inspiration for the young players. Complete with a cast of fresh faces and handheld cameras, the pilot introduces audiences to the small town of Dillon and a slower pace of life — off the field, of course.

With a dramatic end for star quarterback Jason Street (Scott Porter) and a promising beginning for rookie Matt Saracen (Zach Gilford), even those who don’t care for football will find themselves completely obsessed with this down-home show.
